Pottery Classes Near Hollywood, FL
Gasper Arts Center is the closest working ceramics studio to Hollywood — about 10 minutes straight up Federal Highway in Dania Beach. Beginner wheel classes, mosaics, paint-and-sip nights and four-week courses, with clay, tools, glazing and both kiln firings included in the price.
How far is it from Hollywood?
Roughly two and a half miles. From Young Circle it is a straight run north on US-1 — about ten minutes, less on a weeknight. If you are coming from west Hollywood, take Hollywood Boulevard or Sheridan Street east to I-95, north one exit, then east to Federal Highway. We are at 250 S. Federal Highway, Dania Beach, FL 33004.
Your first time on the wheel
Most people who walk through our door have never touched clay. You sit down with an instructor who stays with you for the whole session — centering the clay is the hard part, and nobody gets it alone the first time. You will usually finish with two pieces. Wear something you do not mind getting muddy; short nails help. Everything else is on the table when you arrive.
Finished work has to dry and then go through two firings, so pieces are ready to collect about 30 days later.
When classes run
Wheel classes are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 7:00 PM and Saturday at 3:00 PM. Wheel & Wine is Friday evening, Sip-n-Spin is Saturday evening. The studio front desk is open Tuesday to Saturday, 1:00–6:30 PM. Weekend seats go first — the full calendar shows what is still open.
More than the wheel
We are a gallery as well as a studio. There are rotating exhibitions and open calls for artists, wine-and-canvas painting nights for people who would rather not get clay under their nails, mosaic workshops, and private parties and team events for birthdays, bachelorettes and office groups from around Hollywood and Hallandale.
