Pottery Classes Near Davie, FL
Gasper Arts Center is a ceramics studio and gallery in Dania Beach — a straight run east on Griffin Road, about fifteen minutes from Davie. Beginner wheel classes, mosaics, paint-and-sip nights and four-week courses, with clay, tools, glazing and both kiln firings included.
Getting here from Davie
About six miles. Griffin Road runs east from Davie almost to our door — stay on it past I-95 and turn onto Federal Highway. Fifteen minutes in normal traffic. If you are coming from the Nova Southeastern or Broward College side, it is the same road the whole way. We are at 250 S. Federal Highway, Dania Beach, FL 33004.
Never worked with clay?
That describes most of the room. You sit down at a wheel with an instructor beside you for the whole two hours. Centering is the part that defeats everyone at first — it is also the part they are there to walk you through. Two finished pieces is a normal night. Wear clothes you do not mind wrecking; short nails make the wheel easier.
Pieces then dry and go through two firings, so you come back for them about 30 days later.
When classes run
Wheel classes are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 7:00 PM and Saturday at 3:00 PM. Wheel & Wine runs Friday evening, Sip-n-Spin Saturday evening. The studio front desk is open Tuesday to Saturday, 1:00–6:30 PM. The calendar shows live availability.
Groups, dates and gifts
Bring a group and we will build a session around it — private parties and team events cover birthdays, bachelorettes and office nights. Wheel & Wine is the standing Friday date night at $65 a seat, BYOB. There are also wine-and-canvas painting evenings and mosaic workshops if the wheel is not your thing, and a gallery with rotating shows.
