Pottery Classes Near Hallandale Beach
Gasper Arts Center is a working ceramics studio and gallery in Dania Beach, about 12 minutes north of Hallandale Beach on Federal Highway. Beginner wheel classes, mosaics, wine-and-canvas nights and four-week courses — clay, tools, glazing and both kiln firings are all in the price.
Getting here from Hallandale Beach
Roughly four miles. The simplest route is straight north on US-1 — twelve minutes on a normal evening. From west of the tracks, take Hallandale Beach Boulevard to I-95, go north two exits and come back east on Griffin Road or Sheridan Street. We are at 250 S. Federal Highway, Dania Beach, FL 33004, and there is parking at the door.
What actually happens in a beginner class
Nearly everyone who books has never sat at a wheel. An instructor stays with you for the full two hours — centering the clay is the part nobody manages alone the first time, and that is exactly what they are there for. Most people leave having made two pieces. Wear something you would not mind splattering, and keep your nails short if you can.
Your work then has to dry and go through two firings, so it is ready for collection roughly 30 days later.
Class nights and times
Wheel classes run Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 7:00 PM and Saturday at 3:00 PM. Wheel & Wine is Friday evening and Sip-n-Spin is Saturday evening. The front desk is open Tuesday to Saturday, 1:00–6:30 PM. Friday and Saturday seats go first — the calendar shows what is still available.
Date nights, birthdays and gifts
Wheel & Wine on Friday nights is the one couples book — $65 a seat, bring your own bottle. For a group there are private parties and team events, and for anyone who would rather hold a brush than a lump of clay there are wine-and-canvas evenings and mosaic workshops. The gallery runs rotating exhibitions alongside the studio.
