Beginner Pottery Wheel Class in Dania Beach

Leave your stress at the door and enjoy a fun, hands-on two-hour pottery experience. $79 per person · 2 hours · Clay, tools and firing all included · No experience needed. Ages 13 and up. On our booking system and calendar this class is listed as Beginner's Single Wheel Throwing Class.

What you will do in the class

This class is built for complete beginners and for anyone coming back for a refresher. An instructor takes you through the whole sequence: preparing and wedging the clay, centering it on the wheel, opening the middle and lifting the walls into a simple form. Most people finish the session with two pieces, usually a small bowl and a cup or cylinder.

You do not need any experience and you do not need to bring anything. Everything is set up before you arrive.

What is included in the $79

The price covers the two-hour session, the clay, the use of the wheel and tools, a finishing glaze in one of our house colors, and both kiln firings. There is nothing else to buy afterwards.

What to wear

Wear clothes you do not mind getting clay on. Aprons are provided, but clay still finds its way onto sleeves and laps. Short nails help, and it is worth leaving rings and bracelets in a bag.

When do you get your pottery back?

Finished pieces go into our kilns and the full process takes about 30 days: drying, a bisque firing, glazing and a final glaze firing. We let you know when your work is ready and you collect it from the studio, Tuesday to Saturday between 1:00 and 6:30 PM.

When the class runs

Beginner wheel classes run Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings at 7:00 PM and Saturday afternoons at 3:00 PM. Every class is booked in advance and we do not take drop-ins, so reserve your seat before you come. Weekend seats go first.

Is it good for a date or a group?

It is one of the most popular things couples and small groups do here. If you would rather have a drink with it, Wheel and Wine on Friday evenings and Sip-n-Spin on Saturday evenings are the same class with your own bottle. For a private group we can close a session just for you, and ceramics parties start at $69 a guest.

What to do next

If you enjoy it, the four-week beginner course is the natural next step: four two-hour sessions plus a wrap-up week, with 25 lbs of clay, studio time, firing and glazing included, for $280.
