BYOB Pottery Classes Near Fort Lauderdale

Three of the evening classes at Gasper Arts Center are bring-your-own: two on the pottery wheel and one at the easel. You bring the wine, beer or whatever you like to drink, and we supply everything else. The studio is in Dania Beach, two miles from the Fort Lauderdale airport.

What is the difference between Wheel & Wine and Sip-n-Spin?

The lesson is the same. Both are two-hour beginner classes at the wheel: you learn to center the clay, use the tools and shape simple forms, and the clay, firings and a house glaze finish are included in both. Wheel & Wine runs on Friday evenings at $65; bring your own bottle. Sip-n-Spin runs on Saturday evenings, our more popular night, at $79, and the studio supplies some wine.

Pottery or painting?

Choose the wheel if you want your hands in clay and do not mind waiting for the result. Wheel pieces are dried and fired in our kilns, which takes about 30 days, and then you collect them from the studio. Choose Creative Sips if you want to leave with a finished piece the same night. An instructor leads the whole room through one painting step by step, the canvas, easel, paints, brushes and apron are set up before you arrive, and no drawing experience is needed.

What can we bring?

Your favorite wine, beer or other drink, and at Sip-n-Spin on Saturdays the studio also supplies some wine. Please drink responsibly. Our classes are open to ages 13 and up, and anyone drinking must be 21 or older.

What should we wear?

Comfortable clothes you do not mind getting clay or paint on.

Friday evenings and Saturday evenings are among our busiest times, and both BYOB wheel classes fill quickly. Every class is booked in advance; there are no drop-ins. Pick a date on the class calendar or call 954-656-3560.
