Henriette (Kitte) Arnold

Kitte has a long in fashion design. Her specialty was women’s clothing, primarily evening and wedding dresses. Her creativity was exposed with successful design in theatrical costumes and Victorian era clothing. The Illinois Theatre Center, theatres in the city of Chicago, as well as suburban theatres, enjoyed her talents for over seven years. Accolades were many, but the height was as an assistant designer for the Inspector General, at the Goodman Theatre of Chicago, which won the Jeffrey Award.

Throughout her career as a fashion designer, her love of art and especially watercolor, never waned. She studied oil painting with Al Rogoff, Chinese brush painting with Ning Yeh and clay under Paulette Davis. She trained in watercolor with Claire Wiest and mixed media with Pat Moore. As a participant and officer in both the Flossmoor Village Artists in Illinois plus the Gold Coast Watercolor Society and the Hollywood Art Guild in Florida, she has won many awards and have been selected for one-person shows, receiving significant prizes in most. Her paintings can be found in private collections throughout the United States and Canada as well as China, France, Germany and Italy.

Kitte has also been a watercolor painting instructor for over ten years and has organized student/teacher art exhibits. Her students’ art has been shown in local and regional shows also winning awards.

Kitte now teaches classes in watercolor at Gasper Arts. Students learn how to create the basic image to be painted, mix and use watercolor paint on a pallet, apply proper techniques for painting their image, and receive instruction on how to continue to paint at home.
